Electromagnetic Yoke EMY AC/DC is a light weight electromagnetic yoke for magnetization in detection of surface and sub-surface flaws in any ferromagnetic material. It is very simple to operate and can be used with dry or wet, fluorescent or non fluorescent magnetic particles. It is ideally used for in plant and field work. It is ideally used for weld joints, crank shafts, forgings, castings, turbine blades, rotors etc.
When yoke is energized, a magnetic field is created between the legs. The field is nothing but thousands of invisible lines of magnetic force extending across the gap between the legs. As the yoke is applied to the component to be tested, the magnetic circuit is closed and the field enters the part making its passage between the legs at and below the
surface. Any defect across this field cuts the magnetic circuit and the leakage field ours in the air above the defect. Magnetic particles are attracted by this leakage field and get accumulated indicating the location of the defect.
